One of the towns I had to visit in Germany was Wetzlar, home to Leica Cameras. It is to fulfil a lifelong dream to make this pilgrimage to the holy grail of photography. We planned our trip in such a way that Wetzlar was going to be a day trip out of Frankfurt. We caught an hour long train from Frankfurt Main Station to Wetzlar. It was supposed to be a short walk from the Wetzlar Station to the Leica Welt according to an article I gleaned from the internet. However, on arrival, when I checked with Google maps, it would have taken more than an hour to walk. We caught a taxi instead.

When we arrived at Leitz-Park, we felt a little odd because the place looked closed. Only then did we realise that it was a public holiday Corpus Christi. Thank goodness that even though the Leica Store was closed, the exhibition hall in the Leica Headquarters and also Leica Welt were still open.

Initially, the sky was gloomy and threatening to rain. We went for the indoor exhibition visit and when we finished, the weather outside turned sunny for a while. I took the short window of good light to shoot a few nice shots of the Leica buildings.

Wetzlar Cathedral

The weather was not too kind to us and it started to rain cats and dogs just as we were about to begin our visit to the old town. We took refuge in the Wetzlar Cathedral for over an hour waiting for the rain to stop.
