Seoul Lantern Festival

The Seoul Lantern Festival is held yearly for a 3 week period along the Cheonggyecheon Stream. We were quite lucky to have caught it while we were in Seoul. Even though it was freezing at sub-zero temperature, the place was still crowded. Thankfully, it was quite manageable to navigate amongst the crowd and stroll leisurely along the stream.

The displays were a mix of traditional paper lanterns of various Korean themes. Some of historical figures and scenes while some were of cutesy Korean cartoon characters. There were also displays using more modern LED lights.

This light and sound projection display under the bridge was probably one of the most popular displays.
